- From a technology perspective, I think the biggest hurdle to making bipedal robots is balance. At the end of the day, having a robot that has to balance on a single point of contact for locomotion is a rather large problem. Then factor in that if the robot actually has to do anything, and thus has a moving center of gravity, and the mechanics behind keeping the biped stable are non-trivial.
