A life changing victory for California workers

I shouldn’t have to work until the day I die. Today, Governor Jerry Brown signed historic legislation to make sure I can actually retire. Join me and almost seven million workers in celebration!

I work nonstop just to pay the rent and help my kids pay for college. Retirement has always been such a far off dream. Now, that dream is a reality.

Social security was never meant as retirement, now with Secure Choice, my co-workers and I have an opportunity to retire with dignity and respect.

Similar to the minimum wage, this proves that the Fight For 15 in California is demanding policy to lead the nation, and winning. These victories are historic, but they’re only one step in the fight. I know that McDonald’s can afford to provide more for me and my family.

The best way to ensure workers can have a future with our families in our later years is with union rights. Ninety-four percent of workers with union rights have access to an employer retirement plan. That’s one reason I joined the Fight For 15, and I’m not stopping until we win.

 In solidarity,

Blanca Rodrigues
